Roberto Luongo was awarded the “game ball” after becoming the third-winningest goalie in NHL history (as of May 2021, Luongo is no. 4 on the all-time wins list.) He notched his 485th win in a 4-3 OT victory over the Colorado Avalanche on the road, passing Ed Belfour on the NHL’s all-time wins list. In a unique postgame ritual instituted by Panthers coach Bob Boughner, players selected a game MVP who got to spike a rugby ball. On February 25, 2019, the obvious choice was Luongo, who undoubtedly spiked the ball like a pro.
