CELEBRATING BLACK HISTORY
Date: February 17, 2021
Anthony Duclair was one of a handful of NHL players who wore custom Bauer skates honoring Willie O’Ree, the first Black player in NHL history, to celebrate Black History Month. The skates featured an image of O’Ree, his no. 22, the date of his NHL debut, and various words and phrases promoting racial equality. The worn skates would be auctioned to benefit the Black Girl Hockey Club, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting Black women in the hockey community.
