HONORING HEROES, SUPPORTING COMMUNITY
In April 2019, the Panthers announced plans for a $65 million revitalization of the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale’s Holiday Park. The historic venue first opened in 1950 as a tribute to military heroes and as an entertainment hub, hosting iconic performers like Buddy Holly and dignitaries like U.S. Presidents. The revitalization, scheduled to be completed by Summer 2022, will go beyond restoring the Auditorium to its original glory; the Panthers are also adding the Baptist Health IcePlex, a new state-of-the-art practice and community ice facility that will feature two regulation-sized indoor ice rinks, including a dedicated public rink for the community to enjoy. The team hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking at the site in May 2021, where Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean J. Trantalis exclaimed, “This is a tremendous day for the city of Fort Lauderdale.”
