EKBLAD TAKES HIS SHOT
Aaron Ekblad is a defenseman, but that doesn’t mean he won’t take a shot. In his Calder Memorial Trophy-winning rookie campaign, Ekblad set a club record for rookie defensemen with 12 goals. His 27 assists and 39 points were also the most ever for a Panthers rookie defenseman.

EKBLAD’S BACK WITH MORE SKILLS
In 2016, Aaron Ekblad returned to the All-Star Skills Competition for the second straight season. This time he had more hair, experience and opportunities to show off his skills. The defenseman competed in the Challenge Relay, Hardest Shot and Shootout events as part of Team East’s 29-12 blowout over the West in the Skills Competition.

MOLLER SAYS: GREAT SCOTT, MARTY!, 2015
The Cats snapped a five-game losing streak when they beat the Columbus Blue Jackets, 3-2. After Jonathan Huberdeau tied the game at 1-1, Aaron Ekblad gave Florida their first lead of the night with a shot so sweet that Randy Moller felt like he was driving a DeLorean at 88 miles per hour.

MOLLER SAYS: I LOVE ME SOME TUNA, 2015
Aaron Ekblad’s power-play goal was the lone Panthers score called by Randy Moller in a 4-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on April 5, 2015. With 39 points that season, the defenseman was awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy for Rookie of the Year.

NOT BAD FOR A ROOKIE
Just two years after Jonathan Huberdeau became the first Cat to win the Calder Memorial Trophy, Aaron Ekblad brought the honor back to South Florida. The defenseman had a season that any player would be proud of, leading the team in plus-minus (+12) and earning an impressive 39 points. Not bad for a rookie!
